Hi!  My name is Marti Mendenhall and I LOVE singing, writing and teaching Jazz!  Singing Jazz is fun, spontaneous and challenging.   I love the freedom and joy that the spontaneity of Jazz allows me as a singer.

I have always been inspired by Jazz greats such as Ella Fitzgerald and Mel Tormé, and as well as the more modern sounds of The Yellow Jackets, Pat Matheny, Jessica Molaskey and Darrell Grant.  I have composed original work that is still performed at Jazz Festivals and university vocal groups.  I created a Jazz quartet called Sus-4, toured across the United States and parts of Europe and have taught Jazz to students of all ages. I have worked with fabulous musicians like Skip Wilkins, George Mitchell, Scott Steed and Todd Strait, and have opened for amazing groups like the New York Voices.  In addition, I have acted as guest conductor for various choirs.

For years, I dreamed of performing a solo concert where I could showcase original music and perform the Jazz standards that I love.  My dream came true.  Not only did it come true but the dream also came with a live recording of the concert, "Marti Mendenhall: An Evening of Live Jazz".

To all of my fans, to each teacher, each coach and each individual who supported me in the fulfillment of my singing and I say, "Thank You!"

In Gratitude,
Marti
